What We Expect From AFTECHS Technicians

AFTECHS technicians are expected to maintain professional installation standards, technical accuracy, strong communication, and consistent workmanship quality across every project assigned.

Our technicians may work on:

  • Smart home automation systems
  • Network infrastructure installations
  • Fiber and copper cabling
  • Starlink and satellite internet deployments
  • Security and surveillance systems
  • Wi-Fi and wireless networking
  • Point-to-point wireless systems
  • Commercial rollouts and enterprise deployments
  • Retail technology installations
  • AI data center infrastructure projects
  • Audio/video and automation systems

Every technician representing AFTECHS is expected to complete installations cleanly, safely, professionally, and in accordance with both manufacturer and industry standards.

Minimum Standards & Certification Requirements

Beginning May 1, 2026, all new AFTECHS technicians will be expected to pursue and maintain advanced technical knowledge and industry-recognized certifications relevant to their assigned installation categories.

Required competencies include:

Structured cabling and firestopping best practices

Data center infrastructure fundamentals

IP-enabled security and telecommunications systems

Hybrid and multi-region network connectivity

Copper and fiber optic installation standards

Virtual networking and troubleshooting

Mid-level network engineering and infrastructure

Commercial networking and cloud-connected systems

Technicians are also expected to demonstrate strong real-world troubleshooting skills, professionalism, and workmanship consistency across all project types.

Entry Advanced Field Technician Program

Applicants entering the industry or transitioning into advanced installation work may qualify for our:

Entry Advanced Field Technician Program

This program allows technicians to gain supervised hands-on experience alongside experienced AFTECHS professionals while developing installation, configuration, and troubleshooting skills in real-world environments.

Program Details:

  • Starting pay begins at $55 per hour
  • Work alongside senior certified technicians
  • Minimum of 50 hours supervised field training
  • Exposure to multiple installation categories
  • Certification testing opportunities available after demonstrated field competency
 

Technicians progressing through the program are expected to complete:

  • 100 hours of independent study
  • 100+ hours of successful independent installation work
  • Consistently high-quality workmanship evaluations

Certification opportunities become available once technicians demonstrate readiness through both technical understanding and field performance.

Compensation & Advancement Opportunities

Fiber optic and Ethernet network infrastructure installation in a multi-site business environment

AFTECHS offers compensation above many industry standards for technicians who maintain advanced certifications, strong workmanship quality, and professionalism in the field.

Technicians holding multiple advanced certifications and demonstrated enterprise deployment experience may qualify for:
